Classic Farm Rennovation
Originally built in 1920’s as a working farm house, this 8,500
sf home and grounds were completely renovated in 2004. The house and
grounds comprise 10 acres of the 110 acre property. The remaining 100
acres are in an agricultural easement for field farming. The main house
was completely overgrown and had no views when we started designing.
A master plan was created by Okerstrom Lang Landscape Architects, in
conjunction with the owners, was used as a guide for all improvements
including the new garage. The grounds were transformed into a formal
landscape with New England stone works.
The entry points were changed to create a gracious loop from the road
to the house front door and service areas. This “loop” winds
along an arboretum of mature trees and newly planted specimen trees.
New stone work included a granite walled/bluestone entertainment terrace
90’ x 16’ wide, granite steps leading to the east lawn,
and bluestone step stone pathways throughout.
Current projects include entry gates with granite piers, roadside privacy
landscaping and selective tree removals. Our firm completed the master
plan, construction documents and continues with on-going construction
management services. |
